  1. Read Chapter 3 (the thirteen colonies) to students. Point out pictures and have students describe what is going on.
  2. Discuss any new vocabulary words (ie Freedom, Religion, Religious Freedom, and Persecution)
  3. Discuss the concept of Freedom, have students work on a journal where they can write or draw about a connection they have to freedoms being taken away from them. (this will take the majority of the class) The journal is attached and translated to some of the languages represented in the class
